Operations + Systems
I design systems to make momentum intentional, repeatable and commercially relevant.
Unchecked operating models create expensive and time-consuming chaos.
Growth exposes what your systems were never built to handle. Workflows that worked at ten people fall apart at thirty, and so on. Decisions that used to happen quickly now stall somewhere in a process nobody quite remembers agreeing to. The same problem keeps showing up, just wearing a different outfit.
That’s when you have an operating model problem. Governance that grew organically instead of by design. Reporting rhythms that generate noise instead of insight. Ways of working that were never actually decided, just inherited from whoever was there first.
I design the operating models, workflows and internal systems that let a business actually run the way it needs to. Clear process. Smart workflows. Explicit decision rights. Tooling that works for you. Rhythms that drive decisions and pace, not just meetings.
Governance built for where you are now, not where you were three years ago.
Problems I you help solve:
Growth has outpaced the systems and workflows supporting it
Legacy operating models are no longer fit for purpose
Delivery isn't as sharp as it should be, and the friction points aren't obvious
Governance gaps are slowing decisions down and sending outcomes in different directions
Rituals and rhythms exist, but they're not driving performance
You want an honest, independent audit of how things actually work
“Her superpower is her ability to quickly drill down to the guts of an issue, enabling you to explore solutions from multiple perspectives.
If you're looking for someone who is smart, caring, and really fun to work with, Sam is your girl.”

What the work can look like:
Design workflow and process that actually matches how the business runs today
Build operating models, rituals and ways of working that support commercial and cultural goals
Set reporting rhythms and accountability structures that drive decisions, not just updates
Review and rebuild internal systems, tools and governance
Lead change management through a restructure, system change or operational reset
Step in as fractional support for project and delivery leadership during a period of transition
Typically I work with:
Businesses whose growth has outpaced their internal systems
Leaders working with operating models built for an earlier version of the business
Teams where delivery has become inconsistent, without an obvious reason why
Organisations with governance or decision making gaps slowing things down
Leaders who want an honest, external audit of how things are actually working
Working with me
For most of my career, operations sat inside my remit alongside strategy and people. I built and rebuilt workflows, reporting structures and governance as the business grew and changed, often while running the commercial and delivery side of it at the same time.
This wasn't just agency work. I navigated organisation-wide transformation projects with hundreds of stakeholders, little existing process and countless disparate systems, for some of Australia's leading organisations and educational institutions.
The systems I design are often built under real pressure, inside a real business, with real humans navigating change they can’t always envisage clearly. Making sense of the messy middle with clarity, calm and commercially-sound operating systems.
You’ll walk away with:
Systems that match the business you actually run, not the one you started with
Governance that speeds decisions up instead of slowing them down
Rituals and rhythms that drive real outcomes, not just calendar invites
Clarity on where the friction is coming from, and what to do about it
Accountability built into the right roles and areas of the business
“Sam has a knack for cutting through the "white noise" and getting to the heart of what actually matters.”

Engagements
Every engagement starts with understanding how things actually work today, not how the org chart or process document says they should.
This work can run as a short term project when you have a defined operational problem to solve. A fractional engagement when you need embedded support through a period of change. Or an advisory retainer for ongoing input as your systems evolve.
