Strategy + Direction
I turn ambition into tangible goals with tactical initiatives ready to execute.
Turns out, momentum without direction is just movement.
And, strategy isn't just a deck.
It's the thread that connects your vision and your values to what actually happens next.
The practical steps, like your roadmap, your new business pipeline, your growth plan. The cadence of purposeful rhythms that turn direction into intentional and meaningful progress.
It's about getting from where you are to where you want to be. With deliberate decisions, not just activity. It’s about realising your ambition with real action.
Problems I you help solve:
Your vision has drifted and needs resetting
New business development is reactive, with no clear pipeline or process
You're not sure how to differentiate in a market that keeps changing
Your roadmap exists on paper, but it hasn't translated into action
Quarterly and annual planning happens but doesn’t drive anything tangible
You want an honest, external read on your current direction
“Sam is warm and sharp at the same time, a pretty rare combination.
She has a knack for asking the questions you didn't know you needed to be asked.
I would recommend Sam to any senior leader who wants to think more clearly, lead with more confidence, and get out of their own way.”
— Chief Financial Officer
What the work can look like:
Develop vision and strategy with defined goals, prioritised initiatives and a roadmap you can actually implement
Design new business development strategy and process, including pipeline, pitch strategy and proposal development
Lead quarterly and annual planning, roadmapping and prioritisation
Run an independent diagnostic audit of your current direction, with honest recommendations
Step in as fractional Strategy Director to set the team up for sustained success
Setting direction, leading planning and prioritisation, and giving your leadership team a strategic thinking partner embedded in the business, not just a report handed over at the end
Typically I work with:
Founders and owners setting direction for the next stage of the business
Leadership teams working through growth, change or a strategic reset
Agency owners building or rebuilding their new business approach
Businesses navigating a shifting or increasingly competitive market
Senior leaders who want a strategic thinking partner alongside them, not just a plan handed over
Working with me
For nearly a decade I was Director and Co-owner of a successful agency. That gave me full strategic responsibility. Vision, values, roadmaps, new business strategy, pitch processes and proposal writing, all held alongside the commercial and people side of running a business.
I've delivered strategic work for organisations including CFA, Slater + Gordon, RMIT, Deakin University, Metricon Homes, Officeworks, Media Super and Sustainability Victoria. My strategic thinking hasn’t been developed in theory, but tested against real client needs and commercial realities.
As chairperson of the agency board I also created agency strategy myself, implemented board approved plans and reported risks and opportunities with clarity. Revenue tracking, forecasting and pipeline management sat inside that strategic oversight. Because successful strategy should be considered holistically in any business landscape.
You’ll walk away with:
Clarity on what's actually getting in the way, and called out clearly
A roadmap that turns into real action, not a document that sits in a drive somewhere
More headspace for you and your leadership team, because someone experienced is carrying the strategic problem with you
Strategic thinking tested against real commercial pressure
When you’re close to a brand or a complex challenge, it’s easy to lose perspective.
One of Sam’s biggest strengths is her ability to bring clarity to complex work, and she has a rare ability to combine genuine warmth with sharp strategic focus.”

Engagements
Every engagement starts with understanding the situation you're navigating and what would be most useful.
Some clients come with a clearly defined brief. Others come with a problem they're still making sense of. Both are a great place to start.
This work can run as an isolated strategy sprint when you need fast direction on a specific decision. A short term project when you have a defined deliverable and a fixed timeframe. Or a part time advisory retainer or fractional engagement, for ongoing strategic support without a full time hire.
